St. Philip’s ECLA | Fridley, MN

After the organist at this church purchased one of my sample sets, I contacted him to see if he would be interested in having this organ sampled, since the church is about 15-20 minutes away from my location.  The instrument is in great shape, regularly maintained and much loved by the congregation. I did some test recordings in December of 2015, then eventually scheduled the recording sessions for September-October 2016.

In 2023, Charlie Raasch and I redid this instrument - going back to the raw files and revisiting the noise reduction, applying all of the new principles I've learned in the last few years - the result is a better picture of the instrument, as it is clearer and cleaner, as well more of the reverb has been preserved. The sound is very "present", as we recorded about 15-20' from the case

The instrument is a good example of the American Classic style of voicing, but leaning a little more towards the baroque, with a nod to the Lutheran heritage of the church.  It is large enough to play much of the literature, and I find it to be a really nice practice instrument

Encryption

The samples are offered in 48kHz/24bit resolution. The multiple releases have three levels: short, mid and long. Hauptwerk 4.21 and higher required (incl. HW8). The sample set is in simple encryption format, and does not require an iLok activation code.

The sample set is offered in the Stereo variant (2 channels). The reverb time is short, but the sample set responds very well to added reverb via the HW convolution feature. Below is a screenshot of one of our favorite reverb settings in HW;

Reverb time

The reverb time is ca. 1.5~2 seconds.

Keyboards, pedalboard

The original compass of the keyboards is 61 notes. The original compass of the pedal division is 32 notes.
