First Lutheran Church | Long Beach, CA

The 1976 Zimmer organ in the First Lutheran Church of Long Beach, California is the 4th organ to serve the congregation since its founding in the early 1900s. The first instrument was likely a reed organ, which was followed by a pipe organ of 8 stops, and eventually a Moller organ. After the move to the current sanctuary, it became obvious that the Moller was inadequate to fill the larger room, so an organ committee was formed and this instrument was contracted for. We sampled the organ in 24 bit 96 kHz, it was downsampled to 24-48 for the sample set. There are recorded trems as well as 4 channels, the organ speaks into a mildly reverberant space. We believe it is a very good example of the "Organ Reform" style of building in vogue at the time, but not as narrowly voiced that it is unable to play an eclectic range of literature - one of the demos available on the demo page is of some Widor!

Encryption

The samples are offered in 48kHz/24bit resolution. The tremulants are all sampled. Hauptwerk 5 and higher required (incl. HW6/7). The sample set uses encryption, and required an iLok update

The sample set is offered in the Surround variant (4 channels). The close perspective gives great clarity to the sound with less reverb, and the ambient perspective gives more of a perception of the room and the pleasantly gentle reverb.

Reverb time

The reverb time is about 2~2.5 seconds.
